Joe's Dog

Joe wasn't thrilled about heading out into the cold weather, but his old Cocker Spaniel was not letting him off the hook. "Okay, Girl", he finally said, "let me get my coat and hat so I don't freeze out there." It had been snowing on and off all day long and didn't appear to be letting up anytime soon. Joe put a leash on his dog, Sophie, and out the door they went.

He knew the snow was too deep close to the house, so he picked Sophie up and carried her across the road to a grove of trees. At least there were a few bits of ground visible where the trees were the thickest.

While they were standing under a large Cypress tree, a huge snow mound broke free from one of the branches and came crashing down on them. Poor Sophie was completely buried under a pile of snow. Joe started digging it away with his bare hands

When he got the snow off of her, she panicked and took off running deeper into the wooded area. Joe went running after her but lost one of his boots in the deep snow. Even though his foot was freezing, he kept running and calling so that he wouldn't lose sight of his dog.

Finally, he caught up with her when her leash got tangled on a fallen tree branch. He picked her up and comforted her and then retraced his steps to try and find his missing boot. It was a lost cause, the boot was now buried so he just headed back home with Sophie in his arms.

By the time he got home, his foot was starting to ache it felt so cold. Just then there was a loud ringing sound. Joe woke up and realized that it had all been a dream and was probably brought on by the fact that his covers had slipped off and one of his feet was icy cold.

Dreams are not always literal. Sometimes dreams are in response to something happening outside of the dream. For instance, temperature variations, noises, cramps, to name a few. When these events or situations happen, it could alter a dream in progress or an entire dream could unfold in response to the stimuli.
